- Two new members ($50 each)
and also received some cash for a uniform, Becca dropped off $115 check.
- Thanks to Becca’s prodding
our membership numbers are growing-in part to getting TEAM participants to
renew memberships-our previous administration was not being vigilant in
making some of our top athletes keep active Club Northwest memberships
Northwest
Runner: Bill Roe for Martin Rudow
- Covered above in
financial.
EVENTS: Becca Gillespy/Bill Roe
- All 12 weeks of the
All-Comers this year will be at Shoreline, starting the last week of May
and concluding the second week of August.
- Chuck needs to post the
preliminary flyer for All-Comers on the website-Bill working on the final
one, but need to get sponsors lined up as soon as possible so they can be
featured on the final copy for maximum exposure
- The Spring Break Open was
a success-we had one event that the timing did not work properly, but back-up
timing was brought in- participation was way up and it was a great day for
a track meet. We had a good
selection of Club Northwest team members there to participate and also
volunteer
- Some javelins damaged so
we will be paying to get them fixed-the field turf presented some issues
with those that did not have rubber-tipped javelins
- St Pat’s Day
Dash was 3/16/08, Tony Young and Regina Joyce of Club Northwest were the
age-graded overall winners-we were represented very well in this race.
- At our next
meeting we will have a wrap-up of the Resolution Run, but we should have
netted about $6K.
- Saul working
with some sponsors for Firecracker-we need some information from Brian
Oster about who he may have “on the line”.
TEAM: Shelley Neal
- Shelley is working on a
letter for team members with contracts and we are still waiting for
contracts to be signed so shoe coupons can be sent, etc.
- Chuck had resigned his
post as Team Manager; we discussed what his role might be in the future
and this will be written by Shelley and proposed to the board via E-mail
so we can bring it to resolution next month.
- Primarily Chuck will be a
distance running “manager” of some sort with an increased role in cross
country season
- We discussed stressing to
the members possible free treatment for uninsured team members from Dr
Robertson and Dr Allison and a sliding scale for other team members or if
insured waive the co-pay or deductible-and we would advise this through
the monthly newsletter.
- Four of our Club Northwest
women are heading to the Olympic Marathon trials in Boston next week: Susan Empey, Vanessa
Hunter, Caryn Hefferman and Lauren Matthews.
- Dave Cannon won 2 national
championships at the US
Masters Indoor Championships in Boston
in the mile and 3000 meter, and was 3rd in the 800 meters
- Some Club Northwest athletes
also shined at the Sun Angel Track Meet in Tempe Arizona (ASU) with Ryan
Bailey winning the 200M, Joey Woody ran for our 4X400 team in an orange
speed suit. Reedus placed 6th
in the discus, Jenny Soma hit 13’ 1” in the pole vault. Jenny Calendar made opening height in
the high jump.
- Orange singlets have been
ordered-we will look into a less expensive vendor in the future
- Club Northwest members can
now get 10% off in the Brooks Outlet store
- Becca still needs to order
team jackets from Brooks
- If field event uniforms
are not available from Brooks we are working with the individuals to make
sure they can get them from somewhere else.
WEB: Chuck Bartlett
- Chuck
needs the preliminary All-Comers information to put on the website as we
are getting a lot of questions about location and dates
- Chuck-Becca
to work on a template for athlete bios for the website as we are trying to
get all of our potential Olympians listed as soon as possible and our
track athletes in general
PNTF/USATF: No report

at-large board positions were open and Ed Ledger, Ed Haywood were voted onto the board for two-year posts. We now have an 11-member board
