Bill Roe - Treasurer
Bill Roe was one of the founders of Club Northwest in
1972, and is currently serving his 20th year on the
Board, including eight years as president after holding
the position of general manager during the Club's first
decade. His directorship of the summer all-comers series
predates the Club, beginning in 1969. He has
participated in the development of or been the founder
of hundreds of running events since his start in the
sport in 1965. Bill is the current president of
USA Track & Field, after serving as USATF vice
president for eight years (1988-1992 and 1996-2000) and
holding the national secretary's position from
1992-1996. He also served as the national men's cross
country chair from 1994 until assuming the presidency.
Bill was born in Seattle on September 18, 1950, and
lived there until 1985, when he moved to Bellingham to
pursue a teaching certificate and began helping with the
Western Washington University program. After eight cross
country and ten track & field NAIA and NCAA Division II
All-Americans, and Western's best team finishes ever in
the NAIA cross country nationals, Bill's feet are firmly
planted in Bellingham. Since 1992, he has spent at least
some time each year -- normally a month -- in New
Zealand during the winter break. Every Tuesday, you can
find Bill throwing darts at the World Famous Up 'n Up
Tavern, a popular student watering hole in downtown
Bellingham. email:

Saul has been active in CNW since the mid 1980's, first

small semblence of sanity that he manages to still
appear to have. email:
