Club Northwest is commited to helping runners and
track athletes in the Pacific Northwest. We offer several levels
of sponsorship for qualifying athletes as well as an affiliation
with Seattle Sports Medicine for qualified team members. To help
manage our support of as many athletes as possible team rules
and policies have been adopted by CNW. This page is a good
starting point to review our policies.
We have a current CNW Team Roster online. The list in not all
inclusive, but is a good starting point to make contacts with
CNW athletes. If you are not on the Team Roster and would like
to be, or your information is wrong on the team roster please
contact our webmaster (chuck@runchuckit.com).
The CNW Team Policies have been broken into general categories.
Follow the links below to get specific information about a
category.

Team Funding
Club Northwest currently supports five levels of
funding for its team athletes: International Elite, National
Development, A Team, B Team, and C Team Levels. To recieve
reimbursement, an athlete must fill out the
Reimbursement Form, and turn it in to the team manager along
with supporting receipts.
1. International Elite and National Development -
To qualify for the International Elite level and athlete must
make a USATF national championship team in either track or cross
country. To qualify for the National Development level an
athlete must qualify for a USATF championship meet in either
indoor or outdoor track and field.
2. Standards: - There are standards for all
Olympic track and field events, and most standard road race
distances for A and B teams. There are no C team standards. 1995
team standards, listed below, are based for track and field
events on the current USATF Outdoor National standards, figuring
A at 2% less and B at 5% less than the applicable USATF
standard. Road standards are based on the IAAF tables for
points, with men's A at 890 points, men's B at 860 points,
women's A at 640 points, and women's B at 590 points.

Seattle Sports
Medicine Contract
CNW and Seattle Sports Medicine have a
relationship that provides sports medicine services to CNW's top
runners. National, A and B team members benefit from this
agreement, as well as selected other team members.
CNW team members with insurance will be offered treatment with
Seattle Sports Medicine accepting insurance payments as payment
in full. Athletes without insurance will be charged $15 for
their inital visit and $10 for followup visits. The maximum per
day charge is $25 if the patient sees both the doctor and
physical therapy the same day.
There is a $15 charge for all appointments missed with less than
24 hours notices. This charge must be paid before scheduling
further appointments.
In order to receive treatment, CNW athletes must first complete
and sign an Athletes Agreement, and return it along with
a copy of what their insurance benefits are prior to making any
appointments. Also, athletes must notify the receptionist when
scheduling appointments that they are covered under the CNW-SSM
agreement.

Uniforms and Outside Sponsorship
For the purposes of this policiy,
funding is defines as all financial and
travel support that the athlete is currently
eligible to receive from CNW. This includes
nationals travel/housing, National, A, and B
team funding, and entry fees for cross country,
track, and long distance running.
A - Uniforms - All
CNW team members are always encouraged to wear
the Club singlet at all competitions in which
the participate. All funded CNW athletes are
required to wear the Club singlet at all cross
country and track competitions in which they
participate, as well as all USATF national long
distance running events, and Seattle-area road
races designated by the CNW Board and/or Team
Managers as "promotional events," unless the
Team Manager has arranged for athletes to wear
corporately-sponsored jersey for sponsorship
purposes. In long distance running events at
20-kilometers or longer, funded CNW athletes may
elect to wear a solid white singlet with the CNW
logos screened on the front and back. Failure to
comply with this policy will render the athlete
ineligible for any CNW funding.
B - Promotional Events -
The current list of promotional
events includes: Resolution Run; Duet Run; St.
Patrick's Day Dash; Vancouver Sun Run; Bloomsday;
Rhody Run; Capitol City Marathon; Nordstrom's
Beat the Bridge; Freemont 5k; Dad & Me; Shore
Run; Race for the Cure; Firecracker 5000;
Seafair; Super Jock 'n Jill Half Marathon;
Seattle Marathon and Half Marathon; Jingle Bell
Run.
C - Outside Sponsorship -
All CNW members are
always encouraged to seek additional sources of
sponsorship and funding to aid in their own
development as athletes. However, CNW has
limited financial resources and one of CNW's
primary sources of exposure is high finishes by
CNW athletes wearing the Club uniform at
regional events. Therefore the Board has
established the following guidelines for outside
sponsorship, the wearing of a Club singlet, and
funding.
100% - Wears current CNW Orange
singlet (with or without an additional
sponsor logo screened on the singlet) and
blue shorts or briefs.
80% - Wears a sponsor-manufactured
